Origami Films was started in 1996 by Bill Clark after he left VTR plc's commercials production arm "Excellent Pictures" where he had been Creative Director. In 1998 Origami optioned the American children's book: "The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey" which it developed and later sold to Bauer Martinez Studios in L.A. as a feature film, written and directed by Bill.

In 2005 Mel Paton joined Origami as a producer and partner. Since then, Origami has produced and distributed around 100 tv commercials, corporate and short films, was a partner in the the 2010 Stamford Children's Film Festival with Stamford Arts Centre and East Midlands Media and is currently developing two feature films. Origami has its own post-production facilities including AVID, Final Cut Pro, After Effects and Motion and strong relationships with many of the film industry's premier companies.

Mel is Origami's senior producer and managing director. An honours graduate in Psychology , Mel has worked in production since leaving university, first in Hong Kong and Thailand on many of that regions' most prestigeous productions, and latterly in the UK where she has produced over 300 commercials for clients throughout Europe.

Bill is Origami's creative director. He has credits in art direction, photography, music promos, product launches and live events. Recently he has worked as a writer and director of award winning tv commercials and as the writer director of the feature film "The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey", starring Tom Berenger and Joely Richardson. He has been a guest lecturer at Nottingham Trent and York Universities and has taught film and video at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge.
